Transferring assets to a Raymond James account
There are a number of ways to transfer your assets into your Raymond James account, with the assistance of the dedicated Raymond James asset transfer team.

The simplest way of funding your investment account is by transferring cash by BACS, CHAPS or cheque from your existing deposit accounts.

Whether cash-based or investment ISAs, we recommend that investors should consolidate these into one simple to manage account. This allows us to make best use of the tax efficiency of your capital. Investors often use their ISA accounts for investments with low returns instead of maximising the benefit of having your best returning investments in a tax wrapper. Consolidation also makes it simpler to make a balanced portfolio as opposed to a disjointed investment strategy.

General Investment Accounts hold investments that do not benefit from any tax protection. These can hold equities, bonds, collective funds and cash, which can be transferred in their existing form, known as an in-specie transfer. The advantage of an inspecie transfer is that you will not incur a disposal, so avoiding capital gains tax and you will remain invested throughout the process of transfer.

  Communication
There are a variety of reasons and ways we communicate with our clients and this is discussed when first opening an account with us. For some investors, minimal contact is required and we endeavour to meet them at least once a year and have an agreed regular level of contact in between. For others they may require more regular engagement that can mean meeting monthly.

All our clients will receive a number of paper based standard reports and valuations throughout a 12 month period. Raymond James Investor Access™ offers a secure log-in for clients to view their holdings daily on line, including cash transactions such as buys and sells, dividends, cash transfers, fees and where applicable, any rebates paid.

We pride ourselves that where possible we meet our clients face to face. We feel, as do many of our clients that this offers the best way of discussing and deciding on actions needed. This also develops trust between the client and the Wealth Manager.

In order to create a smooth communication process, if you wish, we are able to directly communicate with your other professional providers, for example; accountant or solicitor; and even copy them in to your investment statements, contract notes and consolidated tax vouchers (CTV) to simplify life.
